Travis Kelce Hosts Operation Breakthrough Kids for Final Preseason Game

Kelce made dreams come true by giving Operation Breakthrough kids the full VIP NFL game experience

Kansas City, MO: A private suite, endless buffet of hot dogs and barbeque and popcorn, Chiefs’ souvenirs, pregame sideline passes… Travis Kelce wanted to make sure the kids he’s become close to over the years from Operation Breakthrough had a once-in-a-lifetime kind of night.

Eleven kids and a few staff members from the Kansas City based charity Kelce has been supporting, showed up last Thursday night not knowing what to expect. Mouths dropped when they entered Kelce’s private suite filled with food and snacks and swag. But the biggest smiles came when Kelce, who many of the kids know personally from other occasions, came to hand out hugs and high fives (and a couple gloves) during pregame.

“Watching the relationships that are forming between Travis and our children here at Operation Breakthrough has been quite something to witness. You can see them soaking in every moment by the twinkle in their eyes. He gives them his full attention and talks to them like friends, motivating them to stay focused and work hard; it’s a really special partnership,” said Lindsay Stodden, Development Coordinator at Operation Breakthrough. “Experiences like this are the type that children don’t forget.”

At any given time, one in four of Operation Breakthrough kids are homeless or in immediate danger of losing housing, and 65% of them have witnessed violence in their home or neighborhood. Operation Breakthrough is one of the largest single-site early education and social services facility in the state of Missouri. Kelce will again be raising funds for them this season through his charity Eighty-Seven & Running and his Catching for a Cause campaign – where fans can go to Pledgeit.org and pledge an amount of money they’re willing to donate determined by how many catches Kelce makes this season. “I can help by performing on the field, but I want them to know I walk the walk off of it too,” Kelce said.
